General school uniform
The uniform policy outlines what is required for pupils at St Leonard’s and consists of:
- navy blue sweatshirt, cardigan or pullover
- sky blue polo shirt (with optional navy trim)
- grey trousers, skirt or tunic
- black shoes or trainers (no logo or flashes of colour, including white)
- School navy jackets/coats and fleeces – optional
In the summer term children may wear a blue/white checked dress or grey shorts.
For P.E.
The uniform required for both boys and girls consist of:
- navy shorts
- a white or navy t-shirt
- indoor gym shoes
- outdoor trainers
- Outdoor PE kit (hoodie and jogging pants) – optional and no visible logo
Items of clothing bearing the school badge are optional and available to order through our uniform supplier ‘The School Outfit’ www.theschooloutfit.com Orders can be made via their website, email or at their shop ‘Little Gems’ in Sunderland.
Occasionally children in KS1 have little ‘accidents’ so it is a good idea to keep a spare pair of pants and socks in your child’s shoe-bag too.
The Friends of St Leonard’s (FOSLs) collect pre-loved uniform that can be recycled by parents for a small donation as required. Items are re-sold every Friday after school.
Jewellery
In the interest of health and safety, children will not be allowed to wear jewellery at any time. This includes:
- earrings (including clear plastic retainer earrings)
- bracelets of any kind
- necklaces
- rings of any kind.
A watch will be permitted, but where this is a SMART watch, all connections to mobile devices must be disconnected.
Hair styles
- no extreme hair cuts are permitted during term time, including lines and severe cuts
- long hair should be tied up at all times for both boys and girls
- no novelty hair bands or bows.
